This course explores the complex political and administrative structures established by the Hittite Empire in Syria during the Late Bronze Age (14th–13th centuries BC). Through critical analysis of available sources, students will examine the imperial strategies used to exert control over vassal states, the roles and identities of key officials, and the interplay between local polities and Hittite authorities.
