In this course, after a quick overview of the concept of Carbon Accounting for an agri-food product, the practice of Carbon Farming, or the capture of CO2 through agricultural practices, will be addressed. CO2 capture and sequestration are key aspects of sustainable agriculture and represent a significant opportunity for the agribusiness sector. Therefore, theories and methodologies (e.g., multicropping) that promote the sequestration and retention of CO2 in agricultural soils will be covered during the course.

The course builds on reports, protocols and guidelines published by the most relevant stakeholders around the concept of Carbon Accounting and Agricultural CO2 sequestration, such as the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
