In the biochemical course specific metabolic pathways of certain tissues and organs will be examined: bone, cartilage, lung and muscle and their regulation and integration will be addressed. The biochemical basis of some common and rare pathologies will be addressed in the light of the most recent scientific discoveries. The course aims to: 1) complete the framework of metabolic knowledge provided with the teaching of Biochemistry in the first level study course; 2) the development of an overview of the metabolic pathways and their regulation in an integrated context, with particular attention to intracellular signaling pathways; 3) provide a deep knowledge of the specific metabolisms of the various tissues and organs examined and the clinical consequences of their malfunctions.
