Students will explore a broad range of ancient Egyptian source material and will be trained to recognise the key cultural phenomena which shaped pharaonic society. By focusing on the critical analysis on the production and development of material culture and grounded in case studies they will be able to examine broader questions of materiality, agency, culture and identity. In addition, Museo Egizio's museological practices and solutions in terms of exhibiting material and human remains will be discussed in order to sensitise the students to current discussions in museum conceptualisation and praxis.
