The course aims to complete the notions of electrical machines learned in the basic course, where the topic was developed from a perspective of operational knowledge for the actual use of machines in a mainly industrial environment. In this course the operating principles of an electrical machine are considered, starting from the definition and calculation of the electrical inductances for structures in relative motion; definition of the electrical and mechanical equations in different reference systems; methodology for the generalized study of the different types of electric machines. Furthermore, upon completion of the previous courses, the operation of the synchronous machine at steady state is described in detail, both as an alternator and as a motor.
