INTRO TO THE COURSE "INNOVATION MANAGEMENT 2020"

The course aims at developing managerial skills for the governance of innovation within organizations, including both start-ups and large-sized companies. Usually firms have a business strategy, a marketing strategy, a production strategy, and so on. At the same time, often they don't have a 'innovation' strategy. This is a key gap addressed by the course which is organized among three key sections: a) creating an innovation strategy; b) designing the innovation system; c) building the innovation culture.

The course is inspired by the book "Creative Construction: The DNA of Sustained Innovation" (author: Gary Pisano, Harvard Business School, 2020). Lectures and programmes are also enriched by additional topics, case studies and materials coming from research activities and long on-the-ground experience of the lecturer, prof. Stefano Denicolai.

Among the key topics: disruptive value proposition, business model innovation, defense of novel ideas from imitation, conducting experiments with organizations using the 'lean' way, agile management, design thinking.

The courses host "Univenture", a kind of startup/innovation competition with awards and amazing networking with real startups, business angels, innovators and champions.
